    Budget Holidays in India

If there is one thing that millennials are most excited about, it is travelling. Most of them can be found scrolling through holiday destinations on their social media timelines. Some of them are always ready to make travel plans with their buddies. They work hard and travel gives them a break from their hectic job routines. Travel also gives a deeper meaning to their lives.

If you belong to this category who have been bitten by wanderlust, you would understand. If you are itching to go on your next trip, but want to keep it in a budget, you are in for some good news.

Here is a curated list of places that you can visit without breaking your bank. I have covered every zone from north, south, east and west to ensure that you don't have to go too far during these COVID times.

    • Coonoor

Coonoor is a hidden gem in South India that is situated at a distance of 68 Km from Coimbatore. While the adjoining hill station of Ooty takes the most attention, Coonoor is relatively untouched by the tourists.

Nestled amidst sprawling tea estates and hills, Coonoor is a place that will rejuvenate you. You can spend a day exploring quaint cafes and visiting the main attraction points in the town. The next day you can jet off to Ooty which is a known hill station. Emerald lake, botanical garden and Otty lake are some of the main attractions there.

When you are on a budget, you can take a homestay in Coonoor that can be as reasonable as Rs 3000 per night.

    • Alleppey

Situated at a distance of only 58 Km from Cochin, Alleppey is the perfect place if your heart is yearning for some peace. Kerala is known for its natural beauty, and Alleppey is as beautiful as it can get.

The beach at Alleppey is flanked by dense palm groves, which are its main attraction. If you are in the mood for sight-seeing, you can visit the Historic St. Mary Forane Church and Krishnapuram Palace.

If you are following a budget, you can easily get a place at Rs 200 - Rs 3500 per night. The meals can be as cheap as Rs 300 for two people. If you are in the mood to spend more, you can take up a houseboat in the backwaters. These boat stays are unique to Alleppey, and they are much cheaper in the offseason.

    • Jaisalmer

Also known as the golden city, Jaisalmer is a must-visit place in Rajasthan. Surrounded by vast deserts, the city has a lot to offer to the tourists.

Camping in the desert under the star-lit sky is a unique experience that only Jaisalmer offers in the country. If you feel it is pricey, opt for a half-day desert safari or parasailing. The Jaisalmer Fort, Jain Temple, Gadisar Lake and Desert National Park are a few attractions of this city.

    • Gokarna

If you are looking for a less crowded replacement for Goa, check out this peaceful little place near Mangalore. The beaches are still pristine, and there are plenty of water activities that you can explore in Gokarna. When you are on a budget, trekking and camping can be two fun activities for you.

You can trek to the peace rock and reach a height from where you can catch glimpses of dolphins. Saying that it is magical will be an understatement for the majestic view.

Budget stays can come as cheap as Rs 1500 per night. You can also get bikes on rent to move in the city to keep your commute expenses in
      check.

    • Digha

If you live in East India and are craving for a beach visit, Digha is one of the most famous places you can visit. It is located at a distance of 186 km from Kolkata airport. This tranquil beach can be your excellent weekend getaway. The beach is one of the cleanest that you will find and is perfect for sunbathing.

Shankarpur beach, which is just 15 minutes away, is a fishing harbour. Get up early to catch the mesmerising views of sunrise on the beach, and also to catch the fishermen casting their nets for catching fish. The best part is that this beach is not as known as Digha and is less frequented by people.

You can easily find several good hotels in the budget of Rs 1500- Rs 2500 per night in Digha.

    • Rishikesh

If you stay in the NCR region, Rishikesh is the right place for budget travellers. Apart from natural beauty, the town also offers several adventurous activities to make your getaway more thrilling. From white-water rafting to camps to treks, there won't be a dull moment in the place.

Lakshman Jhula, Parmarth Niketan and Triveni Ghat are few of the famous sight-seeing spots that you can visit in Rishikesh. The hostel culture, which is popular in Rishikesh, can offer you a place to stay below Rs 1000. It is also easy to get your meals under Rs 200, and that makes Rishikesh a top contender for budget holidays.

      In Conclusion
It is a myth that you need to spend a significant chunk of your savings to satisfy your desire for travel. India is a country that offers several options for budget travels. With this list in your hands, all you need is to pack your bags and jet off.
